Fantoo Girls - Where the Girls Talk Sports - Chosen as the Best Sports Podcast in the Podcast Award

Fantoo Girls, a sports-talk Podcast hosted by Carol Doroba and Robin McConaughy was selected as the winner of The Podcast Awards’ second annual People’s Choice Awards in the category of Best Sports Podcast (see link here: http://www.podcastawards.com/#), beating out New York Mets Baseball Podcast, Brothers in 3Z and the Raider Nation Podcast.

We came at this from a woman’s perspective and soon realized that the content we created filled a void for both men and women. We want to bring both sexes together to enjoy sports with the same passion for the game that Robin and I enjoy. We understand that you can be a girl’s girl and one of the guys at that same time – and that’s a lot of fun.

On August 15th Podcast Connect announced twenty of the twenty-two category winners of the 2006 People’s Choice Podcast Awards. Todd Cochrane, founder of The Podcast Awards, explains that the listener participation in this year’s event was "simply nothing short of amazing" with over 1 million votes being cast over the 15-day voting period.

The Awards ceremony will be conducted at the Podcast and Portable Media Expo on September 29-30, 2006 in Ontario, California.

Fantoo, Inc., founded by Carol Doroba and Robin McConaughy, was created as a lifestyle brand for the sports fan. Through its media offerings including the Fantoo Girls Podcast, television content, terrestrial radio and its web site, Fantoo seeks to become a resource for the sports fan by delivering entertainment, opinion and education in a format with which all fans, beginners to face-painters, men and women, will connect.

"As sports fans, we felt there was a need for an alternative to the current sports programming available, which tends to be either very stat-oriented, or too focused on the negative stories that swirl around the sports world. We feel that people become more avid sports fans when they have a reason to care about the athletes and the game. Our aim is to provide a perspective to the sports fan that is truly fresh, interesting and fun while always staying focused on keeping the fan up-to-date on the sports issues of the day," said Robin McConaughy, General Manager of Fantoo, Inc.

Fantoo also carries a unique apparel line designed exclusively for women who desire a higher-end alternative to the standard sports apparel available. Fantoo apparel is sold on the company’s website,
www.fantoo.com, as well as at select boutiques and sporting apparel stores nationwide. Prices start at $32.

Carol Doroba, Head Coach of Fantoo, Inc. added, "We came at this from a woman’s perspective and soon realized that the content we created filled a void for both men and women. We want to bring both sexes together to enjoy sports with the same passion for the game that Robin and I enjoy. We understand that you can be a girl’s girl and one of the guys at that same time – and that’s a lot of fun."
