APH - Airline Luggage Limits - Know Before You Go

Airport Parking and Hotels (www.APH.com) has revealed there is good news for golfers but surfers are suffering in the luggage game. Travellers can now log on to www.aph.com/news/excess_baggage_charges and check luggage limits for airlines before arriving at the airport. At a time when some airlines are levying, this new service from APH is designed to take the baffle out of excess baggage costs and added extras.

The comparison chart, reveals luggage rates for 22 of the UK’s leading airlines and compares rates for checking-in luggage, excess charges for checking-in economy luggage, hand luggage weight limits, checked in business class luggage limits, ski carriage charges, pushchair charges, surfboard carriage charges and golf club carriage charges. Rates for checked-in luggage range from 20 – 32kg. Hand luggage limits stretch from 5kg with, Alitalia to the more original Easyjet rule, which states, a bag can be, “as heavy as the passenger can carry and lift above their head, in a case measuring 55x40x20cm.” Travelling parents will be glad to know that there is no charge for pushchairs on any aircraft, not even Ryanair!

Sporting enthusiasts should be vigilant though, charges depend on your chosen game or pursuit. Golfers are welcomed with open arms by the majority of airlines, most will carry clubs for free or offer reduced rates. Conversely skiers and surfers are often penalised with higher excess charges to pay.

To make sure you are within your luggage limits before arriving at the airport APH offer a luggage weighing service at its Gatwick, Birmingham and Manchester car parks.

Airport Parking and Hotels Ltd (APH) has over 20 years’ experience as a retailer of pre-booked airport parking. It offers parking at 18 UK airports, ports and Eurotunnel terminals plus airport hotels packaged with parking, airport lounges, travel insurance, car hire and holiday taxis.
