1PixelPage.com, home of the acclaimed “One Pixel Page,” announced today that it will be auctioning off ownership of the most famous pixel on the internet starting January 15th. Details of the auction process were posted at www.1PixelPage.com.
Pixel advertising was made popular by the “Million Dollar Homepage” at www.MillionDollarHomepage.com and is now being celebrated as a popular and efficient new form of online advertising. 1PixelPage.com takes this advertising form to the next level and will only offer one pixel to advertisers, aiming to make this the most popular pixel on the internet. Karl Heinrich, creator of the “One Pixel Page” says: “While there are certainly some elements of parody to be found in the site, it is also a huge opportunity for advertisers to market their products and services to a larger audience.”
The pixel will be auctioned off every month on eBay and ownership will last one month. “We believe this to be the most accurate form of pricing. We let the market decide the value of the pixel ownership”, Karl Heinrich says. 1PixelPage.com expects to transfer ownership of the pixel for the first time on February 1.
