American patients have been forced into a game of medical cat and mouse dictated by the pharmaceutical and insurance companies. The only way to afford their drugs is to obtain medical insurance. But often the coverage is either insufficient or almost as unaffordable as the drugs themselves. As well, employers are less likely to cover drug expenses and many are already starting to downsize their benefit programs.
