Small 486/586 Computer Rich with SuperVGA, Analog I/O, Digital I/O, and 10/100 Ethernet

Based on a high performance 486/586 core, the SBC0489 from Micro/sys provides truly single board solutions in a 5" x 5" footprint.

In addition to all expected PC features, such as SVGA and disk controllers, the new model also includes digital I/O, analog-to-digital converters, digital-to-analog converters, and Ethernet support for both 10BASE-T and 100BASE-T. With 64MB of RAM, up to 128MB flash and full AT-compatibility, high performance control systems can be developed as single board solutions. SBC0489-based systems can run applications in many modes, from completely headless and diskless (no operator interface or disk drives) to full disk based GUI systems. The SBC0489 can boot DOS, LINUX, Windows CE, and other PC compatible operating systems.

The SBC0489 is implemented with the STPC Atlas processor, which offers speeds from 66MHZ to133MHz, on-chip cache, 64-bit DRAM access, hardware floating point, and AT-compatible interrupt, timer, and DMA controllers. The SBC0489 includes COM1, COM2, LPT1, SuperVGA, keyboard, mouse, floppy, IDE, and an 8-by-8 matrix touchscreen or keypad interface. The SuperVGA includes hardware acceleration, and drives CRT monitors and active matrix TFT flat panel displays with resolutions to 1024 x 1024. Application I/O offered on the SBC0489 includes 10/100MHz Ethernet, 24 CMOS I/O lines from an 82C55, eight channels of 12-bit A/D, four channels of 12-bit D/A, and three 16-bit timers from an 82C54. If needed, I/O expansion can be added to the SBC0489 through both PC/104 and PC/104-Plus cards.

The large 128MB flash space available on the SBC0489 can be used as solid state storage for operating systems and large applications. Micro/sys installs a ready-to-run firmware system on the SBC0489 at no cost. This firmware includes a complete industrial BIOS, board setup screens, and application download utilities, and can create a DOS-like execution environment immediately upon powerup. Borland or Microsoft C/C++ 16-bit .EXE files can be downloaded to the board upon receipt. Alternatively, the computer may be configured to boot 32-bit operating systems upon powerup. A free development kit is provided that includes cables, sample software, and full documentation.

The basic SBC0489 starts at $595 in single quantity. Optional features are quite cost effective, as they do not require additional boards. Significant OEM discounts are available.
