Is Priceshark.com Trying to be the Next Google?

Orange County, CA September 14, 2004 –- Among the many benefits of Internet use is immediate access to information and time saved. Riding this wave, a California start up is thinking big. With Google success to offer instant and relevant information on any topic, priceshark.com is combining price comparison and the latest search engine technology. By developing a robust search engine, online shoppers can now locate items within seconds, comparing prices from hundreds of merchant with just a few clicks, saving both time and money.

Mohammad Matar, founder of
Priceshark.com states, “I believe a lot of people will start going directly to price comparison engines and bypassing online stores. For what they can get at a price comparison engine, there will be no need to go to just one store.” He adds, “When merchants compete online to earn your business, you will always end up getting the best deal. The Internet allows people to compare merchant pricing for the same product which puts pressure on prices and brings them down. “

Various sites offer product reviews, store ratings and even shopping insurance for ease of mind. Need a suggestion for a birthday gift? Perform a search or just browse by category or by subsections. Looking for a cool shirt, search by category, brand, or store . Merchant information is presented in a quick-to-read checklist of features such as international shipping and 100% satisfaction guarantee return policy.

Previously,
Priceshark.com charged advertisers by the number of ads they posted per month. After careful evaluation of the online ad market, they switched to CPC (costs per click). With CPC, advertisers pay only when a user clicks on their ad, providing accurate reports and measurement of ad success. Depending on product categories, a merchant can expect to pay between 19 to 89 cents per click. Yahoo store merchants can even download their entire store within seconds, making it easier to list their products on Priceshark.com web site.

A new study by BURST! Media indicates that nine out of ten respondents expect to use the Internet to research and/or purchase gifts during the upcoming December holiday season. The study found that more than half (55.6%) of respondents said the Internet was their primary source of information for evaluating and comparing products. Other media cited primary information sources to include newspapers and magazines (13.0%), as well as television (7.0%).

BURST! asked respondents what particular actions they take on the Internet. Of those who said the Internet was their primary information source, 42.6% indicated they made their purchase online. Two-thirds (66.8%) said they used the Internet to research and compare the features of different brands, and 54.7% used the Internet to compare different retailers to find the best price. 28.1% said they used the Internet to find the closest store location where they can make a purchase.

Current market trends indicate that successful merchants have a large presence in the Internet’s competitive market.
Priceshark.com provides essential services for online retailers and online customers. Shoppers can make informed decisions while retailers can move product. Priceshark.com is the competitive edge that is giving Google a run for one’s money.
