No Publisher? No Problem - A Dallas Artist Uses the Internet to Present Jamar Magazine

Dallas's best kept creative secret has been leaked to the wide world — Jamar Magazine is the new era of art publication. Without the marketing force of a core publisher, the artist's first volume, "The Beginning," is stirring quite a buzz using resources that were once impossible.

Jamar Herford has become a pioneer in the electronic media, sidestepping the weighty publishing house system by spreading the word through the World Wide Web. "We began operations with basic retail and mail order distribution. At the beginning of the year we started selling on our web site and immediately increased our list of clientele," says Jamar, who already has volume two, "Intuition", in the works and set for a November release. The artist's website, jamarmagazine.com, is one of a kind, featuring a design format that gives audiences a brief glimpse of the vision of the magazine and its artist. The site is also his marketing ticket — providing an arena for future volumes, a collection of unrelated works (paintings, photography and writings) and interactive means to build and mobilize a directory of admirers.

Jamar Herford, one of the most imaginative American artists of his generation has produced a diverse body of work in a variety of mediums including photography, writing, paintings, drawings and poetry.

Although difficult to summarize, Jamar's work fuses the innate, familiar legacies of art with an unrelenting exploration of identity and reason. Imagery and language are his primary inspirations. Over the last four years Jamar has spent a significant amount of time traveling and endeavoring in projects dealing with diverse humanitarian efforts. He refers to the time period as an expansion of his research.

Jamar Magazine has gone international due to exposure on the web. With the help of today's technological advances, online marketing in particular, the publication now has buyers in Canada and Europe with hopes of further expansion.

Jamar Magazine is a division of Jamar Herford Group and was formed in 2004. It is located in Dallas, Texas. It is a performance driven group that is dedicated to bringing together various forms of artwork that serve as a means of inspiration and entertainment for the audience.
