Dothan Goes Wireless - VeriQik Makes Commitment to Put New Wireless Technology to Work

VeriQik makes an investment in the Wiregrass infrastructure. VeriQik Internet Services announced the completion of the first phase for ‘Wireless broadband Internet” access points in the Dothan/Wiregrass area. This new technology serves both business and residential customers, offering Internet speeds that are equal to or better than existing DSL and Cable modem access.

“We are proud to bring this new technology to our area,” stated Bruce Collins VeriQik’s CTO. “We are trying to do our part in making Wiregrass a better place to live and work.”

The new service was put to the test recently when the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament needed broadband access for the event’s Press Core. On the Tuesday before the event, the City’s MIS Director, Mr. Tim Stewart contacted VeriQik to provide high speed Internet access in order to get the press coverage needed for the Tournament.

Teams from all over the U.S. were depending on the City’s high speed connection to communicate with their home base and to send and receive updates during the event.

“There just wasn’t enough time to get the connection ready using cable or the telephone company,” said Mr. Stewart. “I called VeriQik and they were able to have us up and running in two days. We literally went live on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 PM.”

As a result, the City has entered into an ongoing contract with VeriQik to provide “High Speed” Internet access to the Civic Center.

VeriQik currently serves the Dothan/Wiregrass area with wireless broadband and accelerated dial-up Internet service to all fifty states. More information can be obtained at www.VeriQik.com.

Tri-State Broadband is VeriQik’s wireless broadband partner and built the state-of-the-art system in Dothan. Tri-State Broadband has delivered seven similar systems to municipalities and ISPs throughout the Southeast region, including Adel, Georgia and along the Georgia/Florida coast. More information about Tri-State Broadband can be found at www.trisbb.com.
