The Peppermill Reno Hotel Casino now offers SELF-SERVE wagering at Race and Sports Book. Now guests can place bets on sporting events, futures or horse races from a convenient standup terminal located in the Race Book. The machine, from Computerized Bookmaking Systems, Inc. has a touch screen and is very easy to use. Insert cash or a paper cash voucher and then simply follow the directions by touching the desired boxes on the screen. It will also track the person's play.

Wagers made from the self-serve machine are no different than bets placed directly at the race and sports book counter. The odds are the same whether a sporting event, a future, or a horse race.

People should also not be surprised that when they play with cash, the machine announces that it has to take their photograph. This is a Gaming Control Board requirement for facial recognition, a requisite for its currency control policy. Once a person has been "identified" they proceed to make their wager.

After the bet has been made and a ticket generated, the person can elect to use any left over credits in the machine to make further wagers or simply cash out and receive a voucher that can be used, like cash, at a later time.

Any sports book employee will be glad to assist anybody who wishes to use the self-serve betting terminal for the first time.
